Q: When you hear “She Means Business,” what comes to your mind? And share what it means to embody that phrase?

HC: When I hear this, what comes to mind is  she’s on Purpose. Walking in alignment and on assignment. She is tasked, focused and intentional about what she has been gifted, charged with and assigned to do.

Q: Businesswomen face many challenges from flexible hours, motherhood (if a mom), relationships, friendships and just finding an overall work-life balance. How do you empower yourself and the women around you through it all?

HC: The Bible says “to whom much is given, much is required”, but in all our doing, we must maintain balance. As women with children and families, our first commitment is to God, our home (family/ourselves) and then our assisgnment ( career). Its important to keep things in perspective. We have to be whole in order to be effective. Our gifts make room for us, to walk out our calling. But,  its the balance and the wisdom that makes that gift effective.

Q: Tell us about a pivotal moment in your career that will always stay with you.

HC: That moment for me was when I made an unwise decision to overlook the gatekeeper. It taught me to always manage and respect relationships at every level, because one day the gatekeeper will have keys to the kingdom, holding the favor and power on whether or not, to let you in.

Q: No is a powerful word… Talk about the power of saying “no.”

HC: No, reclaims my peace, my time, space, focus and intention.

Q: Why is it so important for women to take time and smell their own flowers… to be proud of themselves?

HC: I take time to celebrate myself regurlarly, because God makes no mistakes.. According to Psalm 139:14, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” and my gift has made room for me. So why not  celebrate every win, every moment of overcoming, every triumph over the obstacle? It applauds my initiative and my faith in the God who gifted me in the first place. And finally, it shouts out to my fellow sister in the grind, that she can do it too.
