Misa Hylton Sues Mary J. Blige For $5 Million
According to AllHipHop, which obtained and reviewed the court documents, Hylton is accusing Blige and her company, Beautiful Life Productions, of intentionally interfering with a signed management agreement between Hylton’s agency, M.I.S.A. Management, and Harlem rapper, Vado. The lawsuit claims that Mary used her influence to push Vado to drop M.I.S.A. in favor of signing directly with Blige’s security chief—rumored to be her boyfriend—allegedly going as far as withholding his album and tour opportunities unless he cut ties with Misa.
Hylton states in the court filing that she and Vado entered a management agreement on July 25, 2023, which entitled her company to 20% of the rapper’s earnings. However, months later, on October 1, 2023, Vado reportedly signed a new distribution deal with Mary’s Beautiful Life Productions. The lawsuit further claims that Mary allegedly courted the rapper behind the scenes with private yacht gatherings, hotel meetings, and exclusive events where M.I.S.A. representatives were not present.
Misa’s suit alleges that Mary’s team sent private messages to Vado stating that his album, which was completed in July 2024, would not be released—nor would he be allowed to tour—so long as he remained with M.I.S.A. According to the lawsuit, these actions left Vado in “economic servitude,” unable to repay advances or earn income from his work.
Misa Hylton Seeks Millions In Damages For Breach Of Contract, Distress & More
Hylton is now seeking $5 million in damages for breach of contract, emotional distress, and interference with business relationships. She’s also asking the court to issue an injunction to prevent further disruption from Blige or her company.

So far, neither Mary, Misa, nor Vado has commented publicly on the suit. But this legal fallout is tough to witness for fans who’ve watched these two women werk their Black girl magic together. What started as a creative sisterhood may now play out as a court battle.
We’ll be watching closely.
