It took over 30 years, but we finally get a tease of Eddie Murphy as Prince Akeem meeting his long-lost son in the second trailer for Coming 2 America.
The 1988 cult-classic Coming to America that brought us non-stop laughs from Murphy and Arsenio Hall as Semmi teases more of what we can expect in the new film.
The trailer teases Murphy meeting his son and his wife’s (Shari Headley) reaction to the surprising news. The couple, who share a daughter together, tackle traditional gender roles when Murphy considers making his son the heir to the throne instead of considering their daughter.
Aside from Murphy, Hall, and Headely returning to the film, other fan-favorites from James Earl Jones and John Amos will be back.
And, if the reunion cast isn’t enough to excite fans, new roles from Wesley Snipes to Leslie Jones and Teyana Taylor definitely should build up the release anticipation.
In an Instagram post, Teyana Taylor introduced fans to her character Bopoto and her “papa” General Izzy, played by Wesley Snipes. “Bopoto & her papa General Izzy ready to f#%k some shit up,” Taylor captioned. “Y’all ready for #coming2america ??!!!!”
With the trailer’s release, fans should start packing their bags now to head with King Akeem and Semmi from Zamunda back to Queens, New York.
Take a look at the latest trailer inside. And, tell us — will you tune in?
